Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Noraini Binti Idris
Professor Emeritus Datoâ Dr. Noraini Idris is currently President and Founder, National STEM Association, President IMT-GT Uninet STEM, Founder of Asia Pacific STEM Roundtable 2018, Professor Adjunct at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Advisor to University Malaya STEM Centre, Professor Adjunct at Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
She gained her PhD from The Ohio State University, USA and has been entrusted with the position of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at Sultan Idris Education University from 2010 until 2018. Prior to this , she had been the Dean Faculty of Education at University of Malaya. She published a variety of national and international academics publications to her credit and is a Fulbright Research Fellow, USA. Subsequently, she presented papers both nationally and internationally and conducted several researches with UNESCO, the British Council, Australian Universities and the Sumitomo, Japan. Among her distinctions are the Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Awards- the only Asian recipient for the project on Minority Young Scholars Project and the Graduate Research Alumni Student Award from Ohio State University, a Gold Medal for ITEX (Geneva, 2005) and Best Award and Gold Medal at MTE 2004 till 2020 such as designing assessment system, Educational Module, Gold Medal at ITEX 2005 till 2018 for designing Teacher Education Model and Innovation in STEM. She is a STEM champion.
In 2018, Dato Noraini was awarded Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) for the Distinguished STEM Leadership and Visionary Leadership Category from the International Education Award 2018 and Outstanding and Excellent Leadership in STEM, from Republic of Croatia 2019, This award is for her leadership and contribution toward the promotion of STEM Education initiatives to all strata of the society in Malaysia. She believes that STEM subjects are of vital importance to the future of industry. In 2020 she had been awarded International Recognition Award from INNOPA, Indonesia for her leadership in cultivating STEM Entrepreneurs.
Mr. Mohd Suhaimi Bin Ramly
Mohd Suhaimi Ramly is the Deputy President (Industry) of NSA. He brings to NSA his two decades of experience organizing various STEM initiatives nationwide, with a focus on mathematics and computing programs. At NSA, he organizes various outreach initiatives involving industry members representing various STEM-related sectors. He co-hosts the “Borak STEM” podcast, produced by NSA, which features distinguished guests on the panel to discuss issues involving STEM in Malaysia.
He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He is currently a cofounder and director of an international education technology company based in Kuala Lumpur. He is active in various international education bodies and in the tech startup ecosystem, both locally and abroad.
He is passionate about the development and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Since 2023, he has been part of the core team that develops PandaiAI, a comprehensive AI solution for primary and secondary education. He is part of the National AI Sandbox under MRANTI (an agency of the Malaysian government) and the NVIDIA Inception, an incubator program for AI-based startups. He is an alumnus of Y Combinator, the prestigious technology startup accelerator program.
Dr. Mahanom Binti Jalil
Dr. Mahanom Jalil is the Deputy President (Academic) of NSA. She is tasked with the critical role of compiling research and academic articles that contribute to the national discourse on STEM education. Her responsibilities extend to curating a repository of studies related to STEM and innovative pedagogical approaches that can be applied by educators to enhance their curriculum. Furthermore, Dr. Mahanom collaborates with academic institutions to facilitate knowledge exchange and drive policy development aimed at strengthening STEM education at the national level. Her commitment to academic excellence ensures that NSA remains at the forefront of advocacy for robust and dynamic STEM learning environments.
She currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaya in the field of Plant Biotechnology with specialization in Plant Tissue Culture, Somatic Embryogenesis and Bioactive Compound Extraction from Cell Cultures. Apart from being active in research, she is also active in community engagement and received several awards such as the Best Oral Presenter Award at the International Virtual Conference, UMACE 2021. Most recently, she and her team won the Gold Award and Special Award for Best Poster Presentation at the Pre-University Matriculation Innovation Competition (PIITRAM) 2024.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamizah Binti Mohd Safuan
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamizah Mohd Safuan is the Secretary of NSA. She keeps up-to-date records of NSA activities, meetings, memberships and stakeholders. She organizes and crafts official letters, memos, and emails that communicate with NSA activities, policies, and announcements adhere to NSA regulations and practices.
She currently serves as an Associate Professor at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and actively initiates various events related to STEM at the faculty, university, and national levels. Her passion for community engagement extends beyond the classroom to ensure targeted and underprivileged school students have equal access to quality STEM education, especially in Mathematics.
Her flagship program named STEMathics is continuously offered to schools to help students and teachers experience immersive, interactive and fun-learning activities to boost understanding on Mathematics. She has actively partnered with local schools in underserved areas to establish mentoring programs, tutoring sessions, and boot camp initiatives aimed at instilling interest in learning and understanding mathematical concepts.
Mrs. Ong Sy Ing
Ir. Dr. Mas Sahidayana Binti Mohktar
Ir. Dr. Mas Sahidayana binti Mohktar is the Treasurer of NSA. She manages financial reports, budget summaries and expenditure analyses for all projects organised by NSA. She composes requests for funding, grants, or sponsorships, and outlines the financial needs and objectives of NSAâs projects. She ensures all financial documents, including letters related to transactions, donations, and grants, are systematically filed and archived.

She currently serves as the Director of Universiti Malaya Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Centre since 2018 until present. She is very much involved with various Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) projects. She is the coordinator for the My STEM Ambassador Program under the Ministry of Higher Education, MOSTI STEM Mentor-Mentee and STEM Mini Theater under the National STEM Association and coordinator for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition. She is also one of the Evaluator for Biomedical Engineering Programme under the Engineering Accreditation Council.

Mr. Shah Rizailli Bin Mukhtar
Mr. Shah Rizailli Bin Mukhtar is the Committee Member (Industry) of NSA. He coordinating, planning and managing more than 57 SMEs with multidiscipline Industries of National STEM Association (NSA) registered active members. Shah also manages, plans, collects, creates, designs and develops the official website of National STEM Association of Malaysia. He is also a Project Manager and organizer for NSA â Industry Platinum Award. Shah is also the think-tanker for NSA STEM Industrial Driven Project, STEM Industrial Final Year Project framework and STEM Mentor-Mentee Industry Empowerment.
Mr. Shah is a Lecturer and Researcher of Medical Engineering Technology Section, Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute, Malaysia. His is the subject matter expert in Biomedical Instrumentation Engineering and Augmented Reality applications in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. Shah was a graduate from University of Malaya, Malaysia (MEngSc in Biomedical Instrumentation Engineering), and University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (BSc with Honours in Medical Electronics).
His recent involvement with Augmented Reality Research Group in Electrical and Medical Device Industries has bring new innovation in STEM development. He has been appointed as the Director and Project Team Leader in a research collaboration project between Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) in Augmented Reality Electrical Final Circuit Tracer and have won several awards in MTE2022 and ITEX2022. His continuous R&D in STEM predictive and non-predictive active medical device hazard alarm detection system with Radibems Sdn. Bhd. has resulted to 15 innovative products for the Biomedical Engineering Maintenance and Services (BEMS) industries, which have won several awards during the MTE2009, ITEX2009, iCAN2016, ITEX2018 and also i-EIE2018.
Mr. Norhafizan Bin Ahmad
Norhafizan Ahmad is a Committee Member of NSA. Norhafizan has established himself as a highly regarded University of Malaya academician and researcher. His deep technology research and development expertise has yielded remarkable teaching, coaching, and leadership results. His groundbreaking contributions have been extensively published and cited in international journals and conferences, covering various subjects including industrial ergonomics, biomechanics, sport engineering, and renewable energy. He became the Project Leader for High Impact Research Grant (HIR), four Fundamental Research Grant (FRGS), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Science Fund, Universiti Malaya Deep Tech (UMDT), Universiti Malaya Research Grant (UMRG), Collaboration Research University Grant (CG), and Research University Grant (RU).
In 2015, he received an Award of the finalist for the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) and with this innovation received Anugerah Harta Intelek Negara (Category Paten) in 2016. Notably, Norhafizanâs visionary initiative as the founder of SOLWAV, a sustainable natural power energy project, has garnered significant attention. This innovative endeavour combines three natural energy resources in offshore areas, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
Mrs. Wan Mahsuri Binti Wan Ahmad Kamal
 Wan Mahsuri Wan Ahmad Kamal is a Committee Member of NSA representing the industry. She is a Business Graduate from Universiti Teknologi Mara and holds a Masters in Business Administration specialising in International Business from University of East London. She is a Subject-Matter-Expert in Themed Attractions & Edutainment Programs and she brings with her more than 30 years of experience in the industry.
Formerly the Vice President of Sales & Marketing with Themed Attractions, Resorts & Hotels, and KidZania, she was tasked to turn fun theme parks into education parks. She has led the formation of various fun learning education programs in collaborative with Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE). She was part of the MOE Think Tank in building learning modules for Kembara Kerjaya, English Mania in KidZania and STEMZania programs as part of their out-of-classroom learning experience. She also managed KidZaniaGo, an outreach team doing mobile STEM/career-based hand-on activities which had reached out to more than 100,000 students and over 800 schools all over Malaysia within 5 years.
Wan Mahsuri’s true passion is in making education fun, and this has led her to her current role as CEO of Axis Xperience Sdn Bhd, an innovative STEAM education specialist, where she can develop more meaningful fun-edutainment STEAM programs for children such as STEMtrek Workshop Series, Junior Astronauts Mission to Mars, Astronauts Search & Rescue Camps and CASE Space School International Study Program in NASA, Houston, USA.
Dr. Nurhayani Binti Romeo
Dr. Nurhayani Romeo is a member of the NSA Committee. She is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Selangor Branch, Puncak Alam Campus in Mathematics Education. Among the subjects she teaches is Integrated STEM Education for students from semester 5 and currently studying Bachelor of Science Education (Hons) Biology, Bachelor of Science Education (Hons) Physics, Bachelor of Science Education (Hons) Chemistry, and Bachelor of Science Education (Hons.) Mathematics aims to educate prospective teachers about the concept of STEM education in Malaysia.
In addition to being active in research, she is also active in community involvement for the ‘artSMart: Opening Learning Opportunities’ project between the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Selangor Branch, Puncak Alam Campus with the National Center of Excellence in Orang Asli Pedagogy, Institute of Teacher Education (IPG ), Tengku Ampuan Afzan Campus, Kuala Lipis, Pahang in collaboration with other project partners. Most recently, she and her team won the ArtSMart Series 8 Sustainable Project Award. In addition, she is also active in the ArtSMart Project Series 9, which is the 5th International Symposium on Language & Art Education (iSOLA) 2024, celebrating the culture of exploration and educational research in the field of art, language, and culture from two related countries namely Malaysia and Indonesia, among the activities involved in the International Community Service Program. Activities based on local community service, education, art, and culture will be implemented. Activities include tutorials, learning workshops, demonstration sessions, discussions, and forums, & educational, art and cultural carnivals.
