About NSA

The National STEM Association (NSA) stands as a pivotal force in driving Malaysia’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) initiatives, embodying a commitment to excellence and innovation. Aligned with national agendas such as the National Policy on Science, Technology & Innovation (NPSTI), NSA actively participates in various committees and roundtables, serving as the authoritative voice of STEM in Malaysia.

Collaboration lies at the heart of NSA, fostering partnerships with key stakeholders including Ministries such as Education, Higher Education, and Science, Technology and Innovation. Furthermore, NSA collaborates with governmental agencies such as the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC), the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), alongside industry players, civil society organizations, NGOs, and universities. This collective effort aims to promote STEM across all segments of society, ensuring its pervasive impact on Malaysia’s socio-economic landscape.

Beyond national borders, NSA engages in international collaborations with esteemed partners like Edutech and the Temasek Foundation, extending its reach across the region to countries like Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, as well as globally with nations like Saudi Arabia, USA, and Australia. Through these partnerships, NSA facilitates the exchange of ideas and best practices in STEM education and practice, fostering a dynamic environment for growth and innovation.

At the forefront of technological advancement, NSA champions in technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), leveraging these tools to bring Malaysia into the future. Complementing these efforts, NSA dedicates itself to promoting STEM awareness among the public through educational and outreach programs. An example of this commitment is the “Borak STEM” podcast, where esteemed personalities engage in discussions on pertinent STEM issues, enriching public discourse and understanding.

Central to NSA’s mission is its contribution to STEM education, realized through collaborations with the Ministry of Education and leading educational technology companies like Pandai Education. NSA promotes locally developed STEM content, offering educational modules covering essential topics such as computational thinking, coding, drone technology, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and space tech tailored for primary and secondary students. By nurturing the next generation of STEM enthusiasts, NSA paves the way for Malaysia’s continued success in the digital age.

With the motto IGNITE, INSPIRE, INNOVATE we aim to:
  1. cultivate interest and understanding about STEM among pre-school, primary, secondary and university level students.
  2. strengthen the effectiveness of teaching and learning (T & L) techniques in stem education.
  3. encourage innovation and STEM creativity in the classroom through projects and activities based on smart and interactive learning.
  4. recognize excellent STEM programs, industries and staff.
  5. be the medium of support to the STEM ecosystem in order to produce innovative and competitive human capital.
