Our Recent Collaborations and Engagements

Borak STEM with the Deputy Ministry of Higher Education

Why is STEM important?

STEM, offers more work prospects for students, a better quality of education, and a capable and competent skilled workforce for the future. As our world becomes more focused on science and technology, it is important to be prepared to keep up with the demands while ensuring your employment opportunities.

Without STEM, companies and organizations within Malaysia and other countries would not be able to find the workers they need to fill vital rolls needed to keep up with progress.

MENTOR MENTEE PROJECT

The implementation of Mentor-Mentee Programme is the right way forward to support nationalĀ STEM agenda. STEM knowledge sharing between mentors from university students and mentees from schools is beneficial to all parties. Through this programme, both mentors and mentees are able to improve their soft skills and STEM knowledge while providing platform for engagement in STEMĀ education, preparing them as future talents in scientific and technical fields.

In 2018, Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) has recognized talents in STEMĀ mentoring by introducing the STEM Mentor-Mentee Awards. Mentor Mentee programme is found to be beneficial which may lead to academic success. The components in mentoring or mentor ā€“ mentee programme are essential to improve studentsā€™ interest in STEM areas which eventually will help to grow their interest and shape their future career.

What They Say

What they say 1

I am a strong proponent of STEM education for many reasons. One being I am a maker. I like to make things such as a lucky paper star, sewing article, veil bead stitch etc. This keeps me occupied and keeps my mind active, improves critical thinking etc.

The focus of FIRST is STEM, and thereā€™s nothing wrong with that. However, the program encompasses other types of interests, and the problem starts when we start to invalidate those other fields such as agriculture.

As someone with a ā€œSTEMā€ degree – working as a ā€œSTEM Professionalā€ I so much like it.

STEM gets us closer, but I donā€™t think it really does justice to just how important communication is. I like Biomedical Instrumentation Engineering, it covers things that are important.
